2018 Breed Census Results
According to Phil Sponenburg, geneticist at Virginia Tech, it is important to document a breed's gene flow through various breeders in order to understand the overall effect each primary breed source is having on the overall breed. Hopefully, by starting a breed census early in the breed recovery we will be able to maintain excellent breed flow records on the Erminette.
Note: Below is a breed flow chart showing breed mobility through the recent prominent breeders. It is hopeful by next year additional prominent breeders will be added to the list. All established flocks currently find their origin in the breeders below. Ron Nelson was the only breeder of Erminettes for many years. Josh Miller was the only breeder for about four years. Glenn Drowns was the only breeder for about a year before Matt Hemmer and Curt Burroughs established their flocks.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Erminette Breed Census!
